A NIGHT AWAY AT THE GALGORM RESORT AND SPA

Hi there,

I’m just back from the most relaxing getaway to the Galgorm Resort and Spa in Ballymena. I head up there this weekend for one night and I had heard it was nice, but my god I couldn’t have expected it to be as nice as it was. From the second we arrived we were greeted by the friendliest staff, and it really has that ‘resort’ feel with everywhere being connected, warm, cosy and welcoming.

The Room

We were staying in a Deluxe River View Suite. It was modern and spacious with a seating area in the room as well as a big bed and bathroom. The room had a complimentary mini bar and snacks, which was a lovely surprise and treat. The view from our room was gorgeous, it overlooked the river and the hot pool/ jacuzzis. So you can see why we were excited to get down to the spa from the second we arrived.

The Spa

The spa in the hotel is just amazing. There is an outdoor hot pool, outdoor jacuzzis and an indoor pool/sauna that everyone can enjoy. Then there is also the Thermal Village which has private jacuzzis.

I had two spa experiences booked. The first one was the ‘Serenity Tub Experience’. For this experience we went out to the Thermal Village – we got a private jacuzzi and pod to ourselves. The experience also comes with half a bottle of champagne and some canapes and you can stay there for up to 3 hours. It was pouring rain while we were there which only added to the experience – we laughed the whole way through. It was so romantic and fun, I’d recommend it to anyone. The second experience I had booked was a ‘Bioeffect Ultimate EGF’ – this was a mixture of a facial and a body massage. The idea of the treatment is that your skin revives itself afterwards, I was literally glowing when I left. It lasts an hour and a half so I was very relaxed leaving too 😊

The Food

The food was lovely throughout our stay. We had lunch and dinner at Gillies – which is a relaxed pub setting. The menu was varied and delicious! I had salmon for lunch and steak for dinner – I’d recommend both. Also, if you are just after coming from the spa – you can dine in Gillies in your bathrobes which is fun 😊

Next time I go back I have to do this!

We had breakfast in the River room, and we had the best view of the snowfall outside. It was my first time seeing proper snow in ages. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day so I was delighted there was such a good choice on the menu.

The Area

We decided to make a weekend of it and to get some sight seeing in while we were so far north. The hotel is located about 50 mins from the Giant’s Causeway and 30 mins from the Dark Hedges. We visited both. Next time I definitely want to make it to the Carraig a Rede rope bridge – the weather didn’t allow for that this time.

A big thank you to Galgorm for inviting us to come and stay for one night. It was amazing
